Theme: Becoming a Godly Mother
Text: Proverbs 31:28–30; 2Timothy 1:5
INTRODUCTION
Today we celebrate more than women — we celebrate wombs that carried destiny, hands that shaped character, and knees that bent in prayer.
Motherhood is not just a role — it is a divine calling.
Proverbs 31:28 says:
“Her children rise up and call her blessed…”
Today, we rise and call our mothers blessed in the name of Jesus!
THE ROLES OF GODLY
MOTHERS
1. A GODLY MOTHER IS A WOMAN OF SURRENDER.
When we think of surrender, we remember Mary.
In Luke 1:38 she said:
“Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.”
She didn’t fully understand the journey, but she trusted God.
A godly mother:
-Trusts God with her children’s future
-She accepts divine assignments
-Walks by faith, not by fear.
Motherhood requires surrender — because you cannot control everything, but you can trust God in everything.
2. A GODLY MOTHER IS A WOMAN OF PRAYER.
Behind every strong child is a praying mother.
Consider the case of Hannah.
She prayed until heaven answered.
She prayed until shame turned to joy.
She prayed and gave birth to destiny.
Her son Samuel became a prophet who anointed kings.
Mothers, your prayers matter. Your tears are seeds. Your altar at home is powerful.
Never underestimate what happens when a mother calls her child’s name before God..
3. A GODLY MOTHER TRAINS HER CHILDREN INTENTIONALLY
2 Timothy 1:5 speaks of the sincere faith in Lois and Eunice, which was passed down to Timothy.
Faith is transferable.
A godly mother:
-Teaches the Word
-Corrects with love
-Models integrity
-Sets spiritual standards.
Children don’t accidentally become godly — they are intentionally raised by a godly mother.
4. A GODLY MOTHER BUILDS HER HOME
Proverbs 14:1:
“The wise woman builds her house…”
Building requires the following:
-Patience
-Wisdom
-Consistency
-Sacrifice
A mother determines the atmosphere of her home.
If she speaks peace, peace grows.
If she speaks faith, faith grows.
If she speaks blessing, blessing multiplies.
So as a godly mother, you must be careful of your words.
5. A GODLY MOTHER LEAVES A LEGACY
Legacy is greater than luxury.
Money can be spent. Property can be divided. But faith lasts for generations.
Because one woman said “Yes” to God, salvation entered the world through Jesus Christ.
Mothers, your obedience can change history in your lineage.
6. A GODLY MOTHER MODELS CHARACTER
Children mirror what they see.
The virtuous woman in Proverbs 31: says she
-Is hardworking
-Speaks wisdom
-Shows kindness
-Fears the Lord
A godly mother models:
-Forgiveness
-Patience
-Self-control
-Faith in God under any pressure.
TO EVERY MOTHER TODAY
To biological mothers — we honor you.
To spiritual mothers — we celebrate you.
To single mothers — we applaud your strength.
To mothers trusting God for children — we stand in faith with you.
You are seen. You are valued. You are called.
CHARGE TO MOTHERS
Stay rooted in God’s Word.
Pray daily for your children.
Speak blessings over their lives.
Model Christ at home.
Trust God with their destiny.
PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS
(I Speak Over the Mothers today)
Your labor will not be in vain.
Your children will call you blessed.
You will reap the reward of your sacrifices.
Your home will reflect God’s glory.
Generations after you will rise in righteousness in the name of Jesus.
